  bio 

Diver Van Avery (they/them) is a writer and public artist living in the Powderhorn neighborhood of South Minneapolis. Seeking to infuse the poetic into the public, Diver is passionate about collaborative projects that help us love being alive in these strange times. 

Diver is the Co-Artistic Director of Poetry for People and has been the Artist and Community Coordinator at Pillsbury House + Theatre and taught with Higher Education Consortium of Urban Affairs. Currently, they are a therapist at LynLake Centers for Healing. Diver received an MFA in Creative Writing from Hamline University and a Masters in Counseling and Psychological Services from Saint Marys University of Minnesota.

In all of their creative and professional roles, Diver is passionate about racial equity and gender liberation and pursues or creates artistic opportunities for emerging, queer, and/or artists of color to re-shape the world. Diver is also a proud parent.
